A Database of the Dead

Sebastiano came to Canada from Sicily in 1963, escaping a rural farming life. He lived here for over 50 years, but always sounded fresh off the boat. He worked construction and his co-workers and neighbors called him "Steve". He had 3 sons, and 8 grandchildren. He was known for splicing tomato plant varieties to get them the size of his own head (which was large in itself). He was able to grow fruit trees from the pits and seeds left behind from his snacks. His thumb was always very literally green. He loved to tell jokes, but he had a habit of laughing at them before anyone could understand what they were about. Something about a lawyer and 2 fingers in a goat's ass was his favourite. He was full of so much love and joy to all he came across in his life, all were his friends. He was the embodiment of Earthly knowledge, without ever picking up a textbook. His family was hurt to see him go.

27 year old Sarnia teacher abducted and murdered on NYE 2012. She used to bring extra food for impoverished young students and made sure everyone had enough to eat. A charitable foundation has been established in her name which ensures every student in her county has the resources they need to grow up great.

Emigrated from Germany and married in 1958. Mother to John and Tomas, grandmother to Eric and Matthew. Best remembered for her love of music, film, and literature. She is the reason I have art in my life.
