Dean is my only son (Louise Kelly) & brother to Karen Kelly. He was a true gentle giant with a heart of gold. From the time he was a little boy, loved & loved helping the elderly. A highly paid talented graphic designer became a live-in caregiver to a blind gentleman for the last 8 years of his life. His gentleness & care for people were amongst his best qualities. My father. Came to Canada as a young man, and started and ran many successful businesses. He was brilliant, read about politics and Law constantly. Incredibly generous with family and whoever needed help, and a committed Baycrest volunteer. He was happiest entertaining people, talking and laughing, sharing food and fun. He wasn't afraid to try new things, like skiing, even if they didn't become habits.

This was my first love. We were together 8 years, got married and he had a heart attack and it changed him so much. He became this angry person who stopped being able to show love and left me. A couple weeks before he died, his sister told me he wanted to talk to me. The next time I saw her, he had just passed away, holding the hands of another sister, he had another heart attack. In his last year of life he found spirituality and was making amends. He still wants to talk to me. The love never went away.

Pedro Alderete was a Cuban Visual Artist living and working in Toronto, Canada. He was a passionate and vibrant humanitarian with a zest for life that was unmatched. Through his artwork, Pedro was a tireless advocate.
He once said when interviewed at an exhibition of his work, "Art is my life, it is something I don't question."
Besides the legacy he left behind of his work, he was also a father to his daughter who is now 20 years old and the spitting image of him.
Pedro has family still in Cuba and many family members abroad.
There is so much more that could be said about Pedro Alderete, but I will leave it at... The world was a better place having had him in it, and he is so very missed.... But we all know that Spirit never dies!♥️
